I’VE NEVER TALKED TO ANYONE. I’M USED TO HANDLING THINGS ON MY OWN. What will a session look like?

My priority is to create a safe and welcoming space, tailored to each individual’s unique needs. Through Somatic Experiencing, I release my own agenda, allowing the person to freely explore their own path and discover what resonates most deeply for them. I incorporate the nervous system into nearly every session. This will involve noticing the sensations in the body as this is how trauma is stored, in our body. We often live in “survival” until we know we can have space to relax and feel calm.

HOW DOES IT WORK? WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO IN SESSIONS?

With Somatic Experiencing we may use movement, work with our breath, feel the tension in our bodies, notice what emotions we have inside. We do not “do” we “be” in therapy. Willingness is the first step.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

We live our whole lives up to the point when we decide we want to make a change. It may take some time to allow ourselves to feel safe enough to work on the material that we have been holding on to. I cannot give a timeline for healing.

I WANT TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THERAPY. WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?

The willingness to want change in your life is the biggest step you can take.
